Wednesday, August 9. Cortona.

Cortona is beautiful. fun and everything we imagined Tuscany to be. We love ending the day in the town square or on the town steps watching people, getting an iced drink and enjoying the cooler weather.

Later we meander down the avenue and get a gelato. We’re getting kind of picky though. Brianne likes Snoopy Gelato but I won’t get my scoops anywhere but Dolce Vita. We usually end up back together in the square.

It’s been refreshing not having cell service for five weeks and watching TV maybe once a week.

It has been fun and interesting  being together 24/7 this entire trip. Brianne left her phone at home, on purpose. She carries no money and no credit cards on her. If we ever got separated, she would be in trouble. She would have no way to get back to our hotel or anywhere else without walking. Plus most of the time we were too far away from our hotel during the day and didn’t know the way back without using google maps on my phone. Lots of hand holding!

McDonald’s Assisi. Differences from USA McDonalds…

The only salad dressings offered were 1. Olive Oil. 2. Balsamic vinegar. 3. Olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. Salad dressing given in mini bottles, not packets. Bread sticks given with meal. Gourmet lettuce in salads. No ketchup given with food (€.25 each). Video ordering in lobby. Trash compactor instead of receptacle . Recycle trash before discarding.  No self-serve drinks or refills. But it was great to get a Coke Light with ice. Maybe it’s been awhile since we’ve eaten there.
