On our way to Europe we had a 12 hour lay-over in Los Angeles.
Instead of zoning at the airport we rented a car and asked about the best, close beach.
While obtaining some euros at a Chase bank, the tellers agreed that the best, close beach was Manhattan Beach.
We made a mandatory stop at In-n-Out Burger and headed four miles south of the airport to Manhattan Beach.
Manhattan beach was absolutely beautiful. There was a nice wide beach with a pier, hundreds of sand volleyball courts, classic beach bungalows, boardwalks and plenty of beach fast food.
Bri and I took a nice long walk in the sand and surf, a longer walk on the boardwalk, people watched on the pier and had fish tacos at Wahoo’s.
A flat tire and L.A. traffic didn’t ruin an afternoon at the Pacific Ocean. Smelling and feeling the ocean again was great!

Glad you made your flight! Knowing me I would have sat in the airport 12 hrs watching the clock,
